See You In Bratislava

I missed the inaugural Bratislava Poker Festival at the Card Casino last July as I was on a post-WSOP vacation in San Francisco.

By all accounts, it was such a big success there was never any doubt that it would be back in 2024. With over €1.5 million in total prize pools and every guarantee smashed, and with prize winners coming from over 30 different countries, in a great venue, the sumptuous Card Casino, in a charming warm city made for a great overall poker experience for poker tourists that visitors were raving about afterward.

Now that the Festival is established as the number one poker event in Slovakia, the 2024 version will run from Tuesday, July 16th to Sunday, July 21st. This year, I’ll be looking forward to heading there after the WSOP. I’ve only been to Bratislava once, but remember it fondly as one of the nicest cities I’ve played in.

The Festival opens with the ever popular €75,000 GTD Mystery Bounty, as did the recent London Poker Festival. I love the format and have a particularly good record in Mystery Bounties (given I literally wrote the book on the format, it would be pretty sad if I didn’t), and will be hoping to go a few places better than my 5th place finish in London.

Similar to London, that’s followed by the massive €500,000 guaranteed Main Event which has a very affordable €700 entry fee. The European Omaha Championship with a €50,000 guarantee will attract those players who think more cards are better, as will the €50,000 GTD High Roller which will run on the Saturday.

The schedule is rounded out by a €150 buy-in Opener event, a €1k buy-in one-day event, and the closing Cup event, a €400 buy-in event with a €30k guarantee. Personally speaking I love a full schedule as when I do leave the house to play live, I like to cram in as much as possible.
